Oftentimes family members know that they need to plan for the future, but it can be overwhelming to think about where to start the discussion. This presentation will give families the big picture of the many topics, subjects and resources to explore, plan for and protect your child or loved one with special needs.
Travis will discuss the basics of estate planning, including powers of attorney, advance directives, wills, and trusts, particularly special needs trusts. He will discuss incorporating the financial plan with the legal plan and then what to consider about guardianship.
Finally, he will discuss the public benefits programs to know about such as the various Social Security and Medicaid programs.
